Stay out of the sun.

If you are fair-skinned, you should not exceed more than 30 minutes in the sunlight. If you are darker-skinned, you should retreat from the sun after an hour. Sunbathing increases the risk of moles and melanomas in the future. Be sure to avoid the sun between the hours of 11 am is to 3 pm. Avail yourself to shade on the sunniest days.

Use UV protection on your skin.

This means using a physician-approved sunblock, even on cloudy days. You have two choices of sunblock. You have a physical sunblock that is usually made out of titanium or zinc oxide, or you can use a chemical sunblock that has an ingredient like oxybenzone or avobenzone. Physical sunblock is not absorbed by the body and tends to leave a grayish cast on certain skin tones. Chemical sunblock is absorbed by the body but it does not leave a cast.

Wear hats.

Wearing hats is a stylish way to protect your face and neck from burning in the sun. Frequent or extensive sunburns are a risk for skin cancer. Hats with wide brims are best in keeping the shine out.

Wear long-sleeved shirts.

This will protect your arms from getting too much sunlight. The skin on your upper arms tends to be thin and need extra protection. Many brands have built-in UV protection and are made from lightweight material so that your skin can breathe.
